Types of Water Heaters
Two types of water heaters are manufactured: Tanked and Tankless. A conventional water heater is a stand-alone unit the heats the water in a tank and distributes the water as needed. Even with technology increasing, these units are still wasting energy. A tanked water heater must keep the water hot, even when it isn’t in use. In addition, it is very common for the faucet to run for a while before hot water reaches your part of the home. This can cause extra cost on your water bill and obviously costs you more time.
Tankless water heaters run water line through a heat exchanger, allowing the water to heat up immediately. When hot water is turned on, the burner automatically turns on to warm the water. Advances in technology with tankless water heaters allow little to no time for hot water to reach your faucet. This saves energy and water.
Instant Hot Water
Waiting for hot water isn’t on anyone’s list of favorite things to do. In addition, if you have a larger family, you may run out of hot water if everyone needs a shower at the same time. With a tankless water heater you can solve both problems. Water heats quickly and is available fast and it never runs out. There is no tank full of hot water that will eventually have to be refiled. A tankless water heater runs a line through a heat exchanger, allowing the water to heat as is passes through.
Other Benefits of a Tankless Water Heater
In comparision to a conventioanl tanked water heater, a tankless has a few advantages. We’ve already mentioned the faster hot water and the endless supply. In addition, a tanked water heater collects sediment, scale and rust. This makes for water that isn’t 100% pure. The sediment will collect and if you don’t properly maintain your water heater, it can cause it to rust out and need to replaced earlier than needed.
